Five Ways to Go from Busy to Productive in Your Beauty Business
As a beauty boss, you know there are only so many hours in a day – and sometimes it feels like there will never be enough time to get everything accomplished. With so many different things to do, it can be difficult to fit every task in.
So how do you have a truly productive week when you’re a skincare, lash, brow or waxing specialist?
Check out my favorite strategies for getting productive and making the most of every minute.
Strategy #1: Create a Weekly Plan
Start every week with a plan to stay organized and on track. Planning your week out in advance will help you stay focused on what’s really important, allowing you to prioritize your daily to-do lists. These plans should include any tasks necessary for the operation of your business.
And remember, things will come up unexpectedly, so you’ll always need to be a bit flexible. The key to staying on track though is having a daily schedule, which
can give your productivity a huge boost. And if you know you have a tendency to stall during your free time, schedule your breaks in there too.
Strategy #2: Tackle One Task at a Time
If you have more than one thing to get done in a day, it’s best to tackle one task at a time. You’ll get things done faster, with more accuracy, and you’ll experience that feel-good mental boost that comes along with checking something off of your to-do list.
Strategy #3: Learn How to Say “No”
You’re a beauty boss, but that doesn’t make you a superhero! No one can do it all, and there are going to be times when you need to turn down projects or plans simply because there aren’t enough hours in the day. Knowing when it’s time to say “no” will prevent the overwhelming stress of having more than you can handle on your plate.
Strategy #4: Get Enough Sleep
This one might sound obvious, but in order to be truly productive, you need to be well-rested. No matter how hard we may try, we just don’t get as much done when we’re sleep deprived and what we do get done is of lesser quality. Some people find it helpful to set a reminder on their phone for when bedtime comes, so they don’t get distracted and stay up for far longer than they intended to.
Strategy #5: Give Yourself Some Breathing Room
Try to avoid packing your schedule from morning ’til night every single day of the week. Not only will this help to prevent you from getting totally exhausted by the week’s end, but it will also give you some wiggle room to make changes and accommodate any unexpected tasks that might come up. For example, many people aim to get their work done by Thursday, leaving Friday as a bit of a wild card – you can use that time to tackle any projects you weren’t able to finish or to
get a jump start on something else, allowing you to finish the week off strong and avoid scrambling to finish things at the last minute.
